Sandra A. Studebaker
An SFNA member since 1970–upon learning of its existence from
an uncle–I have attended every 5-year family gathering since
1981. And, thanks to the research of others published by SFNA, I
was introduced to my Studebaker connection and paternal line to
the immigrant Clement via Peter B., Samuel, William, “Frank,”
William and Burton. Personal research of this line indicates that my SFNA genealogy number should probably be C383-722-2.
An invitation to attend the annual SFNA Board meeting in October 1998 coincided with semi-retirement in September after 24 full-time years as a medical librarian and manager of the professional medical library in a large community hospital. At that meeting, I accepted the invitation to serve on the SFNA Board and, based on professional experience and genealogical interests, co-lead a project to consolidate the previously published Studebaker family genealogy into an electronic format that would serve as the basis for future ongoing data entry, maintenance and access. Initially like a part-time job, my responsibilities have fluctuated as “stuff happens” and others have “stepped up to the plate” during this huge ongoing project. Still at it fifteen years later, perseverance seems to be my forte!
While extensive genealogical pursuits–both personal and for SFNA–have consumed a good portion of my years since retiring from work as a medical librarian in 2001, I have maintained a relatively active lifestyle of outdoor physical activity that includes participation in organized competitive walking/ running events. And, as the proud owner of a 1962 Studebaker Lark–restored for me by my dear son during 1999-2001–I participate in selective local and national events of the Studebaker Drivers Club. Briefly, family specs are: Marriage #1 Raymond Cryderman; Daughter:Denise, Son: Curtis (deceased); Granddaughters: Diane, Jennifer and Cara; Marriage #2 T.J. Hill.
